We purchased a youyeetoo metal case for our YY3568 dev board together with the board. The case doesn’t fit: Between the metal cooling block at the case top and the chip it is meant to cool there is a gap of several millimeters.
Hi Can you share some pictures of the contact?
I can try, but it might not work, because I would need to take photos from inside the case. However, when I put the board inside the case, do not screw it down and place the case cover on it, I can lift the board a bit when reaching inside the case through one of its openings with a tool.
Here is a picture into the case. You can clearly see the huge gap between metal block and chip.
Actually the entire delivery is a mess. The board doesn’t even fit into the plastic foam bed inside the cardboard box it came in. It looks like it’s been squeezed into a package meant for a smaller board.
A shame.
If you don’t find this silicone pad, please contact the aftermarket at the channel where you purchased it. Thank you!
What else should have come with the case?
I can confirm, that the gap is way to large. AFAIK should it be about the half of the pad thickness.
I put some nylon washers under the board to narrow the gap between processor and the case.
These washers were not included.
For me the case is simple. We will return board and case and get something equivalent from another supplier that will already come built into a case. I want to develop software, not tinker around with hardware that’s obviously not been QA tested at all. I am not gonna start on using silicon (or “heat conducting”) pads as connection material between a chip and a heat sink. If this would have been properly manufactured, the heatsink would have direct contact with the chip it is meant to cool, helped by some quality thermal compound, and the board would rest on springs ensuring good contact of chip and heatsink while making sure there wouldn’t be too much pressure on the chip.
Regarding youyeetoo’s slogan of being professional and fast: My experience here is not at all like that.
When I received the case, I was also annoyed. I had bought it to get a solution, not a task.
