OS Improvements

Hello,

I would like to ask the development team for advice regarding the recently released OS.

First impressions:

  • Is it possible to release the latest version of Debian, upgrading from version 11 to 12? (Debian 11 will soon reach EOL)
  • I didn’t see a minimal version of Debian or Ubuntu (such as a server version).
  • The current kernel is too old. Could you please update to kernel version 6.1.x?
  • When releasing an OS version, please do it only in English. I see Chinese words when I run apt update and other commands.
  • Please use a CDN/Global repository, the Chinese repository is slow in Italy…

Questions:

  1. Can you explain the firmware to me? Is it u-boot based? (I saw an Android logo on the first boot of Debian when resizing/wiping the partition)
  2. Many platforms like Batocera, dietpi, armbian do not support this board. Can you work with their development team to release something compatible?
  3. Why am I forced to use SDTool for writing the OS? As a Mac user, I can’t use BalenaEtcher to flash the image.
